4th Research Skills Training Workshop
'CLASSICAL AND HIGH-THROUGHPUT PROTEOMICS'
Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences, Amsterdam
4 - 7 October 2010
*** The deadline for this event has now passed. Please check the website for details of future training workshops ***
The European FINSysB Network is an interdisciplinary research programme focussing on the molecular interactions between the medically important fungus Candida albicans and its human host during disease progression. Our aim is to generate bright, ambitious and well-trained young researchers with multidisciplinary skills in this field. Therefore our research programme is supplemented by a strong, multidisciplinary training programme in research skills and complementary transferrable skills.
We are able to offer a small number of places to external participants on our Research Skills Training Workshop on Classical and high-throughput proteomics, to be held at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences, Amsterdam. A small number of grants are available to applicants.
This four day course will include:
- a lecture series on Protein Sequencing by Mass Spectrometry, Identification of Post-translational Modifications, Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance (FTICR) Mass Spectrometry, Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Protein Glycosylation, and Quantitative Proteomics
- practical training in understanding Mass Spectra, interpretation of MSMS spectra, database searching, and biomolecular MS methods
- a half day symposium illustrating some recent developments and applications in fungal proteomics
- training in research ethics and integrity
Training will be provided by internationally renowned researchers including Prof. dr de Koster (University of Amsterdam), Dr de Koning (University of Amsterdam), Dr Maurien Olsthoorn (Utrecht University) and Dr Alexandre Alanio (Necker Hospital, France). This will be an excellent opportunity for young researchers to meet other fungal pathogen experts.
Applicants should send their application letter, a CV of not more than two pages, and two written references to Dr Emily Swaine [e.k.swaine@abdn.ac.uk] by 2nd August 2010. If financial support is being sought, the application letter should include a justification of this request.
