3rd Research Skills Training Workshop
'MICROARRAY ANALYSIS, NEXT GENERATION SEQUENCING AND BIOINFORMATICS'
Institut Pasteur, Paris, France
20 - 23 April 2010
*** The deadline for this event has now passed. Please check the website for details of future training workshops ***
The European FINSysB Network is an interdisciplinary research programme focussing on the molecular interactions between the medically important fungus Candida albicans and its human host during disease progression. Our aim is to generate bright, ambitious and well-trained young researchers with multidisciplinary skills in this field. Therefore our research programme is supplemented by a strong, multidisciplinary training programme in research skills and complementary transferrable skills.
We are able to offer a small number of places to external participants on our Research Skills Training Workshop on Microarray analysis, next generation sequencing and bioinformatics, to be held at the Institute Pasteur, Paris, France. A small number of grants are available to applicants.
This four day course will include:
- a lecture series on the application of micrroarrays and next generation sequencing: transcript profiling, chromatin immune-precipitation analysis, analysis of mutant populations.
- training in statistics: experimental design, analysis of microarray data.
- practical training in bioinformatics focusing on the methods used in analyzing microarray data, visit of microarray and NGS facilities.
Training will be provided by internationally renowned researchers including Avner Bar-Hen, Naama Barkai, Christophe d’Enfert, Bernhard Hube, and Cosmin Saveanu. This will be an excellent opportunity for young researchers to meet other fungal pathogen experts.
Applicants should send their application letter, a CV of not more than two pages, and two references to Dr Emily Swaine [e.k.swaine@abdn.ac.uk] by 26th February 2010. If financial support is being sought, the application letter should include a justification of this request.
