Frequently Asked Questions

15.
Q.  When our researchers attend an international conference outside the EC, do they need to request formal permission from our Project Officer?

A.  No this is not necessary.

16.
Q.  Are the EC obliged to treat all information in the project reports in strict confidence?  Are there any guidelines on this that might clarify the position, especially for our industrial partner?

A.  Some parts of the reporting are confidential (the exploitation plans, for example), but there are sections, such as the 'publishable summary' which aren't. The reporting guidelines for ITNs
(http://www.ukro.ac.uk/mariecurie/post_application_info/reporting_guidelines/090126_itn_reporting_guidelines.pdf) state clearly which sections are confidential and which aren't.

17.
Q.  Is it possible to apply for a postdoctoral position in a Partner lab within the network?

A.  Yes.  There are no restrictions on employment within FINSysB Partner labs.  However, an ESR cannot move to an ExR position within the same network.

18.
Q.  Can the Career Exploratory Allowance (Budget Category C) be used to buy a business suit?

A.  Yes.  This allowance can be used for anything that relates to your career development e.g. job interviews, visit to a collaborator or potential employer.  If this budget is not spent during the researchers employment  then the remaining budget will be included in their final salary payment, which means it will be subject to tax.

19.
Q.  Will the EC provide a certificate in recognition of PhD completion?

A.  No, the only accreditation for this qualification will be from the institute in which you completed your PhD.
